Real Wedding: Nautical Prep

Good morning!  There have been claims of a crazy snow storm hitting the Portland area for days now and finally it has arrived!  Well, not a storm or even close to a couple of inches, but good enough for me enough a cozy day inside :)

If there is a wedding theme that never gets old to me it's the nautical theme.  I love to see navy blue and yellow against crisp white and endearing touches of gold.  It's so traditional and preppy, it's sweetness to my soul!  The Caketress designed the amazing cake and mini cakes for this wedding, which seem to defy gravity with her now famous ruffle design inspired by Ralph Lauren runway (see here). And in collaboration with Platinum Events Group, they created a nautical themed wedding that is absolutely stunning!

Real Wedding: KIM + PHIL Photography

I always love a sweet vintage inspired wedding, and this one is at the top of my list!  Everything from the 1920's inspired flapper dress, to the vintage Buick and to those amazing handmade paper flowers, is beautifully detailed to capture the essence of the roaring twenties!  Here is what the bride, Charlene had to say:

We were inspired by the "no care" attitude & "just have fun" vibe of the 1920s.  We both loved the story of The Great Gatsby, and how carefree everyone seemed whenever they'd go to one of Gatsby's parties. We wanted to create that kind of laid-back, fun atmosphere. The Dunsmuir Estate fit the bill perfectly for that, and since it was more like a park rather than a hotel banquet hall, it allowed us to have a more casual feel for our wedding. We encouraged people to just be comfortable; even to sit on the grass on picnic blankets. For our give-away/dessert table, we wanted people to take home things they might actually want and use, and as far as we know, nobody minded free sodas, cookies, candies and coffee grinds! =)

So fabulous!

Inspiration: Countryside Elegance

Happy New year everyone! It feels good to be back into the swing of things.  And I am so excited to start this year off with this fabulous wedding inspiration shoot from Diana Marie Photography!  A stunning contrast between rustic and graceful beauty.  With a charming horse field and deep mahogany accents paired with creamy white florals, pops of steel blue, and an ethereal Claire Pettibone dress, it's the sort of wedding inspiration brides dream of.  And I know there are a lot of you newly engaged ladies out there...you can't go wrong with creating something like this on your big day!!

Diana Marie is a recent Portland, Oregon transplant and I am extremely honored to be working with her on an up and coming project!  If you are interested in her and her work check out her blog for details!  She is incredibly talented--obviously!
Thank you, Diana!

Real Wedding: Jaimee and Steve

Good morning!  I have a sweet wedding to share with you all today from Jessica Hill Photography.  One of my favorite parts of this wedding is the location:  Mt. Hood Timberline Lodge.  A magical setting up in the Cascade Mountain range full of tradition and enchantment.  It's just breathtaking.  Another reason why I love this couple, they created their wedding rings in a foundry!  I just can't get enough of all the personalized touches brides and grooms come up with--this one is truly one-of-a-kind!

Thank you to Jessica for capturing this beautiful celebration and congrats to Jaimee and Steve and their new life together!  Be sure to check out the vendor listing at the end of the post--it's a great list of some wonderful vendors here in Portland!
