What to wear...Target designer collections
It has been a gift from above having international designers such as Rodarte, Thakoon, & Zac Posen bring their genius to the masses at incredibly affordable prices to our local Target stores. If you are one who has been unaware of this gift it may be due to the high speeds at which these pieces are bought up off the racks. But it has just been announced that 34 of the most popular designs will be re-released for our buying pleasure on March 13th! So if you missed them the first time around or you want to buy multiples for your bridal party, get out there and scoop them up--all for under $50!!!

What to wear...the Maxi dress
Good morning! Have you ladies bought your maxi dress yet? This is one fashion trend this year that translates so beautifully into weddings. Gorgeous maxi dresses for your bridesmaids would be ideal this summer and if you are attending wedding showers and dinners you will be so chic in a long, free form maxi. Seriously, if you haven't jumped on this band wagon, you need to. I fell for one at Anthropologie the other day--it is perfectly satisfying knowing that it feels like I'm wearing a night gown but look like a million bucks. You will wear these dresses any and every where. Which is exactly what your maids want in a dress! Dress them up or down with thick leather belts, lightweight cardigan sweaters, and/or long necklaces--the a maxi dress is a staple in your closet this season.
{I'm highlighting the wonderful maxi collection at Anthropologie because I tried on a bundle the other day and fell in love with almost every single one, but you can find them just about anywhere :)}

What to wear...

Last week a Weddings Fresh reader, Kirsten, mentioned to me she was on the hunt for a yellow dress to wear to a wedding. So I went to work! I loved your bold choice in the matter and was intrigued to see what was out there. There are so many things to be cautious of when it comes to yellow so I made sure I found reasonable options to fit your quest! I however, am not a yellow wearer. Wish I was. My sister is--she looks fab in it. It just doesn't sit right on my skin since it has some what of a reddish undertone. You know how it goes. You're looking for that perfect foundation fit and there are those with hints of red and those with touches of yellow. You don't want to look to ashy or gold, plastic or orange...of course finding foundation is just as easy as finding that perfect bathing suit...but I digress. With that said, yellow is not for everyone, especially if we are talking sold yellow.
Kirsten, I have found these options for your wedding event and I hope you are inspired and I have come across options that you have not. The beautiful dress featured on the top of this post is not in my choices, though I confess it is a dreamy solution :) Who knows who actually made it and if we did know, there's a great chance it's beyond all sorts of credit card limits! I don't know what kind of wedding you are attending; whether or not it's outside or inside, afternoon or evening, casual or formal, so I tried to bring multiple options to the table. My personal favorites? Numbers 2, 6 & 7. In fact, if I wasn't such a yellow repeller, I would be tempted to buy up the Balenciaga (#6) this moment. Make sure you take into account the time, place and feel of the wedding when choosing your dress. Don't be the girl in a mini and 4 inch heels at an outdoor, afternoon garden wedding--eek!!! (I've seen it with my own two eyes--haven't we all?!).

Enjoy! I do hope you tell me what you decide on, Kirsten! And for the rest of you Weddings Fresh readers, I love to hear from you, so please feel free to email me with "What to wear..." questions and comments!

What to wear...
I am soo ready for some boho chic in my wardrobe this year. It has been a slow progression, but I have decided to loosen up a little and have some fun. My usual spring/summer style consisted of the basic, yet beloved standards: lightweight cotton pants, relaxed collared shirts with the sleeves rolled or a soft v-neck t, and gladiator sandals. I love the reliability of the classic prep look but last year I started to let the easy going, messy boho approach to style seep into my soul. And what did I discover? Ooh, a wonderful thing: freedom. Seriously. I'm not afraid to say I'm a type A, who has an order, schedule and purpose for everything I do--after all, shouldn't everyone? :) But with the help of some slouchy, airy and maxi clothing items I fell in love for a little disorganized fashion and let go! Where can you get a jump start on your road to La Boheme? Try this chic collection from Free People. Love it!!

What to wear...
Oh I how I love Anthropology. And how I adore these watercolor printed dresses. Such beautiful muted brights for a light and easy springtime wedding. Play around with non-conventional patterns and painted brushstrokes of color, it adds wonderful dimension and visual contrast to your wedding. Love it!

What to wear...
It's the New Year and that means spring clothes have hit the racks! It's a nice reminder that some day soon we will be out of this freezing weather and into lightweight khaki pants, cuffed jean shorts and wedge sandals! But top on my list of what to wear this spring/summer season: stripes. I'm going nautical this year. I have at least 4 tops with stripes already and I see no stopping me in acquiring this fabulous striped sailor sweater from J. Crew. A timeless piece with a modern slouchy fit and utilitarian style rolled cuffs--so chic and wonderfully classic. You can't go wrong with stripes! (and no, horizontal stripes don't make you look fat!)

What to wear...
This is what I will be wearing on Christmas Eve...well, that is, if I would have been on top of it this year and actually bought it when it was available in stores. (You can still order it online form J. Crew for Christmas by the way if you are interested). I don't know why I haven't figured out what I will be wearing, neither do I understand why it's a decision I fuss over. But it always is, as we attend Christmas Eve service and longtime family friend's holiday party each year, and I love to dress the part! So this year I am searching for some buffalo check. It's perfectly winter traditional, and admittingly a bit lumberjack, but when you combine it with chunky feminine jewelry and a wool mini and tights, it's unbelievably chic! And as seen below, this buffalo check jacket is made fit for a woman by adding a skinny belt to define the waist and a pair of dark denim jeans making the silhouette slim and flattering. What to wear this winter?? Buffalo check!
{...I just hope I can find what I am looking for in two days...}

What to wear...
For all you formal brides out there looking to add a little drama to your line up, check out the latest from Romona Keveza Couture. A simply stunning collection of dresses in pearl, Tiffany blue, black and white with the fabulously feminine touch of sumptuous ruffles that make you want to reconsider your adverse reaction to the word "ruffle". We have discussed the ruffle trend in previous posts on Weddings Fresh, and I must say, Romona Keveza has done an excellent job inciting a covetous heart in most brides with her ruffle details. This collection is a nice reminder that elegance and style still has it's place in a bridal party, and your maids will thank you for it. What to wear this 2011 season? Sophistication, style and ruffles!

What to wear...
I have decided to start a new feature here on Weddings Fresh, a weekly post on What to Wear.... To kick us off this week is a selection of pieces perfect for the approaching holiday season. I am trying my hardest not to put up my Christmas decor until the day after Thanksgiving, because after all, that is the official day you can respectably listen to Christmas music and put up your tree--we all know some of us cheat a bit of course...I went shopping for some new decorations on Monday and I just am itching to attend the holiday parties on our busy calendar. Thus, I was inspired for this first What to Wear.
I chose these pieces because they are simply ideal for anyone desiring a sense of elegance for her party debut but has no interest in looking safe or dated. These dresses give just enough flirt to feel your youthful self but not enough skin to shame you into the closet...there is a good balance, you know! The best part, these are dresses that are classic enough they will wear well for years to come.
If any of you have style or fashion questions you would like to have answered here on Weddings Fresh, please feel free to e-mail me at: dani@weddingsfresh.com. I would love to hear from you!!
